It's
generally agreed that management should take full responsibility for managing
their risks and monitoring their effectiveness. And no one knows their business
operations better than the managers in charge. But thinking through risk
management is not easy for busy people. Facilitation is the art of managing the
thinking process so that the problem owners can concentrate on the problem
solving. It's a combination of project management, event management and
visualisation: getting the most out of every participant.
Facilitation
and visualisation techniques are adaptable to many situations but we start off
with how to use them for risk assessment workshops before exploring their
application to audits, training sessions and one to one meetings.
The
workshop is highly interactive: participants will need to bring examples of
workshops or other facilitated sessions they have already conducted or are
planning to conduct in future.
Objectives By the end of the two days delegates should be able to:
Understand the difference between facilitation,
consultancy, investigation and providing advice
Plan and structure a facilitated workshop to suit the group
and the purpose
Prepare visual aids with maximum impact
Guide problem owners through each step to solutions which
they can implement
Apply the facilitation and visualisation principles and
techniques to business reviews, audits, developing the audit/risk function and
training sessions.
