A one day Board
Directors course for the National Housing Federation
A Housing
Association has a wide range of stakeholders who want to be assured of its good
governance as well as its compliance with Housing Corporation requirements, the
Companies Act and other laws. To provide such assurance the Board itself needs
to be assured in turn that the controls it has directed to be put in place have
been implemented and are operating effectively. No single source can be enough
to provide such assurance: how can the Board put together a reliable jigsaw
puzzle of assurance pieces? Who can help them? How can the Audit Committee
oversee the process?
Course Aim
To provide practical
guidance on methods of obtaining assurance on the adequacy, reliability and
effectiveness of the association's/ group's system of internal control and risk
management.
Understand the links between good governance, risk management, internal
control, performance reporting and assurance
Have examined the use of non routine feedback tools such as incident and
internal controls failure reporting
